Additional Services

Lego Club

The Centre offers Lego Club as an extramural once a week to learners in the Grade 1-3 class. Here the learners are encouraged to express their creativity through various games and challenges, while simultaneously working on their social interactions, turn-taking, sharing and collaborative problem-solving skills.

Social Skills Club

Social Skills Club is offered as a weekly extramural to the Grade 1-3 learners. During Social Skills Club the learners take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities and games while practising peer communication and conversation skills; initiating, directing and sustaining play; turn-taking and following rules of games; team-work and cooperative play; tolerating winning and losing; and developing flexible thinking.

Aftercare

In order to assist with the provision of childcare for working parents, the Centre offers an early morning drop-off or ‘Early Birds’ facility, as well as lunch supervision and aftercare services for class-based learners. Learners’ suitability for these services needs to be assessed individually as learners need to be able to occupy their time with a degree of independence in structured open-ended play, during adult-led activities, or while carrying out self-help routines such as toileting and eating, without the requirement for individual facilitation or behaviour management and without the extended hours being detrimental to their goals.

Holiday Club

This service is provided to assist working parents by offering morning supervision for Pre-Grade R to Grade 3 learners where they can engage in a range of stimulating and fun activities during the school holidays. Each day is centred around a theme and includes activities such as arts and crafts, social games, outdoor play, science experiments and baking.
