Services Offered
One-on-one
Learners who require individual adult support to communicate their needs and desires, interact socially or follow instructions and engage with learning tasks and activities, attend one-on-one sessions which are run by internally trained Centre Educators. Sessions are typically 1 to 3 hours in length and these may be attended either on a daily or weekly basis.
Small class learning
Learners who are ready to benefit from a programme that has a simultaneous focus on individual skills and group functioning skills attend one of the Centre’s small classes. The small classes at the Centre follow a more typical classroom routine, however the low adult to learner ratio of 1:2 to 1:3 allows learners’ individual needs to continue to be addressed with the adequate practice and repetition required for progress to take place.
Pre-Grade R to Grade 3
The Centre offers a Grade R/ Pre-Grade R class as well as a Grade 1-3 class. The adult to learner ratio in these classes is 1 adult to 4 learners which allows for a lot more facilitation and support than what is provided in a mainstream classroom; this also means that individual targets can be worked on in order to prepare the learners for a larger learning environment. Our graded classes are designed to help bridge the gap between the Centre and a small mainstream learning environment.
